Athletics at Virginia Academy
Programs Start at 6th Grade
At Virginia Academy, we see athletics as:
+ An opportunity for physical excellence
+ A space to foster teamwork
+ And an environment to develop a solid work-ethic
We believe that genius can be expressed through athletics as well as academics.
Sports provide many students with an opportunity to use and display their God-given talents and abilities, as well as opportunities to secure scholarships for future educational pursuits. Athletics also help to build school spirit and opportunities for social interaction.
We encourage our students of all ages to participate in a variety of intramural and interscholastic sports!

Our Outstanding Alumni
Saint Joseph's Basketball Center Ejike Obinna
Ejike Obinna was born in Nigeria and moved to the states in 2013. He was given an Academic Scholarship to Virginia Academy, and helped us win the State Championship during his junior year.
“Virginia Academy is a great environment, and I enjoy how people know and care about each other. We were basically a family, and I miss that. I wouldn’t be here at Vanderbilt if not for Virginia Academy, both in the classroom and on the court.”
Ejike graduated from Vanderbuilt in 2021 as a Four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member after playing 75 games. He is currently continuing his basketball career and education at Saint Joseph's University where he is working toward his MBA.
