ASHBURN, VA – On May 30th, 2025, Lieutenant Governor of Virginia Winsome Earle-Sears, a well-known proponent of school choice, gave the commencement address at Virginia Academy, a Christian school located in the heart of Loudoun County.
“I see I’ve come to the right place,” Earle-Sears remarked, “you started out with praise.” The graduation ceremony followed Virginia Academy tradition of beginning with student-led praise and worship songs. The lieutenant governor unzipped her personal Bible to share a faith-based message about what is truly valuable in life. “If you never took another breath, how important are you really?” she urged the graduates to consider.
This graduating class continues Virginia Academy’s tradition of excellence with students joining a variety of schools including University of Alabama, The George Washington University, and University of Virginia. The 51 graduating seniors have earned a combined $2.9 million in scholarships and over 200 college credits.
“We see Virginia Academy having students occupying places of influence all over the world.” asserted Dr. Charles Whitlow, Chancellor of Virginia Academy and Lead Pastor of Community Church, “This is our church’s long-term strategy to bless the world. It’s been in our hearts since our founding 42 years ago.”
Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears joins a variety of other elected officials from both parties that have been welcomed to Virginia Academy. Last fall, Governor Glenn Youngkin, Virginia Senator Suhas Subramanyan, and Chairwoman of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Phyllis Randall all joined Virginia Academy to celebrate the grand opening of new high school facilities.
