Private School Teachers Can Offer a Personalized Education

According to our own Kellie Tuten, English Teacher here at Virginia Academy, the differences offered in a private school may benefit students strongly: “I believe that some, maybe even all, students are better suited for a private school education.” Says Tuten, who was recently featured in LoudonNow talking about the advantages of a private Christian education.

“Private school teachers have no choice but to be involved. We are immersed in the culture, and we have a lesser student caseload. We have the ability to know more than each student’s name. We can know the whole student.”

Tuten believes that private school offers students a unique level of individualized attention that simply isn’t achievable in a
public school setting.

“I am not suggesting that private school is better than public school, because it is not. I am suggesting that it is different. I have the privilege of teaching English at Virginia Academy, a private school in Ashburn, and here is my private school teacher perspective: I only have 105 students on my caseload. I have direct communication with my principal with weekly meetings. I am given freedom to instruct based on standards, rather than state tests. I have at least one planning period each day. I attend chapel with my students once a week, and I lead an advisory group with my homeroom once a week.”

Private Schools in Loudoun County

As many Loudoun County parents know, Ashburn and Leesburg offer some of the greatest public schools in the entire country, but while these programs are excellent, there is still a marked advantage to choosing a private Christian education for your children when character-education and a Biblical perspective is important to your family.

“In Loudoun County, which is home to some of the greatest public schooling in the country, why should any parent pay for their student to attend a private school? It’s simple; private schools focus on individualization and education of the whole student. Students are not a number, instead they are a face, a name, and a soul,” said Tuten in the article on LoudounNow.
