I would like to take just a few minutes to flag last month’s Hitting the Mark email, not only as a reminder, but also to reiterate the profound impact this single day can have on Virginia Academy. This Sunday, December 11th, truly has the potential to become “Miracle Sunday.”
Once again, here is the link to the donation page and a quick summary on how to donate:
- Credit Card: Let’s get some miles! The credit card portal goes LIVE this Sunday. Simply click here and you can pay via credit card.
- Check: Busy this weekend? If you are paying by check, you can write your check TODAY, date it 12/11/22 and mail it to my attention. Further, if you want to skip the post office and bring it to school, I will meet you in the pick up or drop off line, just call or text to (202) 246-6927.
- FACTS: Want to debit your FACTS account? Reply to this note and let me know how much you would like to give. We will add the amount to your FACTS account on Monday, 12/12 and you will be billed accordingly.
- In-person 12/11: Community Church will be set up with cash and check drop boxes at both services (9:30am and 11:00am) on Sunday.
- Other: Want to give stocks or other equity positions to take advantage of the tax savings? Simply reply to this email and we can get you set up on that front as well.

ORIGINAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
Dear Virginia Academy Families and Staff,
I write to you with an update on the Hitting the Mark Campaign and an opportunity to DOUBLE your gift in the coming weeks.
Through the extreme generosity of people like you, who are our parents, teachers, and members of the local community, we are on track for a truly historic school year. Energy radiates from our campus, and there is so much to be thankful for. I just wanted to take a moment to share some key accomplishments of our school community in the past 11 short weeks.
- Ground breaking ceremony to commemorate Community Church’s 40th anniversary, VAA’s 25th birthday, and the ceremonial kickoff to the school’s expansion
- First Annual VAA Classic where generous supporters helped raise $60,000 at our foundational golf tournament
- Security upgrades, including new cameras, door sensors, and a collaborative working relationship with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office
- Construction fencing is already up, and in a few days, heavy equipment will begin digging the foundation for the next generation of Virginia Academy students
In the roughly 18 months since launching our Hitting the Mark campaign, generous givers from VAA, Community Church, and beyond have committed $2.4 million in payments and pledges toward our new 60,000 foot expansion that will transform the learning experience at Virginia Academy. That is a truly outstanding accomplishment towards our long-term goal of $4 million by August of 2024. Building a world-class Christian education here in Loudoun County has been at the heart of our mission. Reaching these milestones wouldn’t be possible without the continuous support and encouragement from all of you, our donors, and community members that have stepped up to give in a significant way.
And speaking of givers, I am excited to share a truly jaw-dropping opportunity that has the power to launch us into 2023 with unstoppable momentum towards finishing our expansion. A member of the Community Church and VAA family has announced his intention to match ALL donations (dollar for dollar) up to $500,000! All donations must come in on Sunday, December 11th. Arrangements can be made for special processing on Friday or Monday should you require bank access or have other limitations. This effort is in conjunction with the “Big Give” being run by Community Church.
Why is this so important? An additional $1 million by the end of the year would ensure our cash flow remains unaffected and allow us to immediately tap into our financing plan. Most importantly, this level of funding will ensure the expansion is equipped with the highest quality classroom resources needed on day 1 (desks, IT infrastructure, lab equipment, etc). The impact of a gift this size is difficult to put into words and we are so grateful to have this opportunity.
Therefore, over the coming weeks, I kindly ask you to pray as a family and carefully consider participating in this incredible offer, taking place on Sunday, December 11th. Just think, whatever amount you can stretch and give, you’re actually giving double because of this match factor! For example if you give $2000, you will be responsible for the school receiving $4,000. So you can make a bigger difference than ever on this one day.
In conclusion, I know we have asked a lot of our VAA community this year in terms of money and time. Please trust me when I tell you all those requests are not lost on me or the school leadership. But when I started in August, I made a commitment to support our community of parents, students and faculty. I truly believe this unexpected donation is an opportunity to push us over the top in this campaign.
